This is Life for a Life's second memorial woodland to be developed on land made available by The Land Trust.

The whole country park is built upon land that was previously Frickley and Elmsall coal mining colliery. The colliery was closed in 1993 and since that time the Home and Communities Agencys National Coalfields Programme has transformed the site into a safe and attractive open space that has been enhanced even further under the Land Trust's management.

The new memorial tree plantation is split into two woodland areas that sit on either side of the pathway of the north western edge of the country park and offer views across the surrounding farmland. As the memorial woodland develops into a forest it will add to the country parks landscape.

A consideration from those who wish to plant a memorial tree is there is easy access to the memorial tree planting areas via 7km of pathways around the country park and ample carparking only a short walking distance away.

Please note depending on mapping system you may use the postcode isn't always accurate for this site, we suggest parking in the Curlew View Car Park for the shortest and easist access to the memorial forest. The what3words for this location is ///matter.spends.firming

As with all Life for a Life memorial forests, it is prohibited to leave items on memorial trees. However, clients wishing to plant wildflowers may do so with the help and guidance of the land management partner. Please visit www.thelandtrust.org.uk for more information.
