New Space Available for Memorial Trees at Chew Valley Lake
We're pleased to share that additional space is now available for memorial tree dedications at Chew Valley Lake Memorial Forest. This peaceful and picturesque location is a cherished spot for remembrance — however, please note that space is limited.
Over the winter months, we carefully cleared diseased ash and other dead trees, making way for new life and creating a fresh area for planting. This new space has already begun its transformation thanks to the wonderful efforts of Chew Stoke Primary School, whose pupils planted over 600 bluebell and snowdrop bulbs and scattered a variety of wildflower seeds to enhance the natural beauty of the site.
About Chew Valley Lake Memorial Forest
Opened in 2005 and nestled in the foothills of the Mendips, this stunning planting area is located just outside the village of Chew Magna in North Somerset.
Rich in wildlife and bird species, the site has been designated both a Site of Special Scientific Interest and a Special Protection Area. Surrounded by meadows and woodlands, it is a popular spot for birdwatchers, anglers, and those simply looking to enjoy the magnificent views.
The lake is also a favourite among water sports enthusiasts, with sailing and windsurfing on offer. Nearby, visitors will find a nature reserve, picnic areas, and designated walking trails.
This land, along with other beautiful natural sites, has been generously donated to Life for a Life Memorial Forests by Bristol Water. Through this partnership, donations made via memorial dedications have enabled the charity to give over £13,700 to Bristol Children’s Hospice to date.
A Natural Place for Remembrance
Our planting areas are carefully managed to support wildlife and allow nature to thrive. We ask that no additional items be placed on or around memorial trees, as they can damage the tree and disrupt the surrounding habitat. Any prohibited items left at the site will be respectfully removed.
